2010 Winners

Music Worcester, Inc. proudly announces the winners/recipients of the 2010 Young Artist Competition.  Held on May 5, 2010, from 2PM until 6PM at Alden Memorial Hall on the WPI campus, a group of 23 extraordinarily talented young classical instrumentalists aged 12 to 18 performed a stunning range of pieces.

  • First Prize - The Music Guild Prize - Seohee Min, 17-year-old student at St. Mark's School in Southborough, and violin student of James Buswell, New England Conservatory.  Performed:  the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto in D-Major.Sarah Min


  • Second Prize - The first of the Sylvia Gafvert Stubblebine Prizes - Brendan Dooley of Worcester, a 15-year old flute student of Linda Bento-Rei, also of Worcester.  Performed:  the Ibert Flute Concerto.Brendan

 

 

 

  • Third Prize - The second of the Sylvia Gafvert Stubblebine Prizes - Oboe player Lydia Consilvio, aged 16, an Auburn High School student, whose oboe teacher is Joseph Halko of Westborough. Performed: the Poulenc Sonata for Oboe & Piano.

  • Fourth Prize - The third of the Sylvia Gafvert Stubblebine Prizes - Pianist Lan Wang,  a 16-year-old Westborough High School student and piano student of Omar Soffan of the Royal Academy of Music in Worcester and of Janice Weber of the Boston Conservatory.  Performed:  the Scriabin Etude in d-minor.

 

 

The Guild prize winner is invited to perform for the Music Guild Annual Luncheon & Young Artist Concert at the Tatnuck Country Club in Worcester on May 26, 2010.

Stubblebine Prize Winners will be invited to perform at other events, as opportunities present themselves, including the Music Worcester Annual Meeting in September.
