Locations

Destination: Bach

Worcester’s many hotels and restaurants make it a perfect destination location for weekend “mini-festivals” each season.

Glorious New England foliage creates the perfect backdrop for our BACHtoberfest in autumn, and cozy winter spaces are perfect for the annual Bach Birthday Bach weekend in March.

We will invite choral singers from near and far to join us in forming the BACHtoberfest Choir each October.

Worcester’s Music Venues

The second largest city in New England, Worcester is in the midst of an exciting renaissance.  As a vital center for the arts in central Massachusetts, it has a vibrant night life, a burgeoning restaurant scene, and a population that swells every autumn with thousands of college students.

Discerning musicians and concert-goers have long known of the 1857 Mechanics Hall, one of America’s most spectacular, historic halls.  A major partner with THE COMPLETE BACH, it will host two major Bach weekends each year, BACHtoberfest and Bach’s Birthday Bash.

For small-scale performances, we turn to the jewel-like Tuckerman Hall, a gilded venue for chamber performances dating from 1902, and the extraordinary collection of the Worcester Art Museum, providing a rich visual counterpoint to Bach’s music. The city also boasts a number of beautiful churches with historic organs to showcase the repertoire in a wide variety of performance styles.

The project will also encompass some of the city’s newer and more cutting-edge venues, including local breweries and coffeehouses. Each season will feature a handful of concerts under the auspices of collegiate and church concert series.
